Growing up, we made many trips to my grandparents who lived in South Alabama. One of many memories, burned deep in my soul was during those hot, southern, summer visits, my grandmother's hands were always moving...creating lovely things as she sipped her sweet tea. My grandmother taught me the joys of taking ordinary things and making them beautiful. She made exquisite doll furniture from random knickknacks and other amazing things. She was a living, breathing Pinterest, and a genius designer and creator. I attribute my passion and love for creating to her.
Holland's Trinkets came to life, by accident, with no plan to make into a business. It all started with a necklace I made for my daughter, Mary Holland, and her daisy troop that were at best "ok". Slowly, it evolved into selling Trinkets out of my mailbox, at a consignment shop and through social media. Each season, I have grown and expanded my inventory of Trinkets, which includes the very popular and best sellers...leather cuffs. I love, love creating new pieces. It is extremely therapeutic to top it all off.
My personal favorite Trinkets are those hand stamped reminders of who we are IN Christ. I love the reminder of hope they provide to my customers and to myself, as I create them. Almost 5 years ago, God took my husband and I both to our 'bottoms' of life. We became exhausted of pretending that we were living the dream. Marriage and babies were hard, and we woke up to the harsh reality called 'real life' that the fairy tales didn't show us growing up. We both came to a point where we were honest with ourselves and others, and surrendered all that we had to him. God delivered us both, which is a double miracle, out of some deep, dark pits. There is beauty in ashes and he restored us as a couple and life took on a whole new meaning. Through that time, he taught us the value of words and encouragement from others, his word and most importantly who we are In Him and the hope that can come only from Christ. I want to be a messenger of hope for others, to shed light to the downcast soul and also celebrate life and new beginnings. God has paved the way in allowing me to share my experience, strength and hope through hand stamping words for others.
Years ago, God gave me this verse when I felt at a crossroads in life. It was several years before I felt him lifting me out of the pit, but he did and now I sing a new song. Through stamping, letter by letter, I sit some days in awe and amazement that I can share my song of praise with others.
Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
